Recep Tayyip Erdogan's remarks came a day after Ankara recalled its ambassador to Tel Aviv and scrapped war games with 'Israel' in response to Monday's pre-dawn raid. A Turkish diplomat told AFP that at least four Turks were among those killed. "The bloody massacre Israel carried out against ships carrying aid to Gaza deserves condemnation," Erdogan told lawmakers from ruling Justice and Development Party in a televised speech. "The insolent, irresponsible and impudent attack by Israel, which went against law and trampled human honour underfoot, must definitely be punished," he said to loud applause. "Nobody should test Turkey's patience. Turkey's enmity is as violent as its friendship is valuable," he added. Erdogan urged the international community to hold Israel to account, calling the regime "a festering boil in the Middle East that spreads hate and enmity, dynamites regional peace and spreads instability"
"It is no longer possible to cover up or ignore Israel's lawlessness. It is time for the international community to say 'enough is enough'," he said. "Whoever turns a blind eye to Israel's bloody attacks from now on...must know that they will be an accomplice."
More should be done in addition to a UN Security Council statement calling for an inquiry into the raid and the immediate release of all civilians, Erdogan added. "Rather than wait for an inquiry from the (Israeli) administration, which uses lies as state policy and is not ashamed of its crime, the international community must investigate the incident in all its aspects and deliver the appropriate legal response," he said
